Program: AdTegrity

The Scoop: The program makes you jump thorugh hoops for chum change.

The Good: 100% sold inventory with no defaults. Excellent support.

The Bad: The CPM rates are low even before the 55% comission is deducted.

The Review:

AdTegrity is a standard big network - you get banners, skyscrapers and popups to put on your site (they even offer "combo code" - banner code that serves up popups as well). At first glance this may seem similar to Fastclick, but don't be fooled - this program quite as good.

The CPM rates for banners and skyscrapers hover around 17 - 25 cents, while run of network popups bring in about $1.30 - $1.50. This would be somewhat acceptible, if on the low side, but these rates are BEFORE AdTegrity takes their cut of the earnings - which by default is 55%! So when all is said and done, expect to be getting around 7 - 12 cent CPM for standard banners/skyscrapers and just over half a buck for a thousand pops.

Thankfully, AdTegrity has recently introduced new dynamic Leaderboard sized units - these will show a paying leaderboard ad, but "fall through" to showing a standard banner. We're currently seeing an overall rate for these ads hover between 20 and 25 cents CPM net eatnings (that's after comissions!), making them a very good idea for default traffic for higher paying networks.

Naturally the rates tend to slide quite a bit if you chain AdTegrity behind 2 to 3 tiers of networks, as you will be sending them a lot of otherwise worthless traffic. However it is better to get low rates for such impressions than to get nothing at all. It also helps that AdTegrity doesn't have a minimum payment. The first month we were trying their ads for only a few days, and dutifully received a check for $2 and change sixty days later.

AdTegrity makes it a bit of a pain to start running their ads. You first make an account with them, which requires approval from the administrators. They will then send you a contract to sign and fax back to them. The next step is to request code for your site - it needs approval from administrators again, and when you've done that, they ask you to put a link to their privacy policy into your privacy policy (which if you don't have, you will have to create and link to in a visible spot). Only then do you get the code to run the ads.

The program switched to Falk Ag for their ad serving a few months ago, and offers a pretty sophisticated stats interface through them. Statistics are updated daily, and can be broken down by date and ad format among other things.

Unfortunately, there are no other management tools of any kind provided - you cannot even look up your ad code if you have lost it. Also missing is any sort of default ad management - but this is a good thing. AdTegrity claims 100% inventory sellouts, which means that every time your page calls up their code a paid ad will be served.

Also worthy of mention is AdTegrity's level of attention to publishers. Email is usually answered within a business day, and in a helpful manner. The representatives have been very accomodating of us, and have offered us advice on maximizing our earning levels. Occasionally they will even offer publishers special deals. For example, we were offered an excellent rate for UK-based popups, and even approached about an exlusive deal that would increase our share of the profits.

While we would not recommend serving their regular popups (you can make a lot moew money from pops served by the likes of Fastclick or PopUpTraffic), their leaderboards, banners and sky scrapers are acceptible to be served as defaults for a higher paying campaign (such as Casale Media's).

Level of Intimacy: We're running all their formats and have been paid regularly.
